Looking for something to listen to on the next road trip?

Here are some podcasts that will help you focus on your music career. All of these can be found in iTunes. Each is geared toward giving you the latest and greatest content in the music business — it’s liking having your own “singer/songwriter how to” radio station on your iPod!

    The Musicians Cooler
OK, this is my podcast but it’s pretty popular. It is where musicians come to trade advice on everything about running a band. One week we are talking about getting more fans, then more gigs, more sales, your website, Internet tools, etc. It comes out weekly. Check it out at www.musicianscooler.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    Music Business Radio
This is a weekly radio out of Nashville that talks to some of the heavy hitters of the Music Business. It’s about an hour, and its one of my favorites. The host is David Hooper who has been involved in every aspect of the Music Business and runs IndieMusician.com. You can find it at www.musicbusinessradio.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    Music Pro Show
This podcast has great content, but sadly will be ending in 2007. The great thing about a podcast is that it is timeless. The host is Brian Stephens a professional drummer and studio manager. Find it at musicproshow.podshow.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    The Song Writer’s Show
Learn about the craft, business and politics of songwriting. You don’t need to be a songwriter to enjoy the podcast. thesongwritershow.podshow.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    Modern Music Business
This is a fairly new show, and Bradley White talks about news in the music business as well as techniques for using the Internet. Find it at modernmusicbusiness.blogspot.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    Music Is Your Business
Chris Knab host a show that interviews Musicians about recording, promotion, fan building touring and more. Chris has worn many hats in the music business and brings a lot of knowledge to the table. Find it at www.musicbizacademy.com/knab or subscribe via iTunes.

    The Business Side of Music
This podcast comes out about every two months. They talk about all aspects of the Music Business. thebusinesssideofmusic.libsyn.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    The Project Studio Network
If you have a home recording setup, this is THE podcast to keep up to date with all the new technology as well as FREE resources to check out. It’s a weekly podcast that is both informative and entertaining as well (they have a segment called “The Stupid Knob”). They also spotlight and demonstrate new gear reviews. Check it out at www.projectstudionetwork.com or subscribe via iTunes.

    BONUS: The Music News Podcast
A light hearted sarcastic look at the musicians, the moguls, and the morons of the music business. Keep up to date with who is in rehab, in jail, as well as new releases and industry news. Find it at www.musicnewspodcast.net or subscribe via iTunes. (OK, you caught me. It’s another one of my podcasts. )

    UPDATE:

Here are a couple more we just found in case your schedule isn’t totally filled already!

    The Songwriter’s Toolbox Podcast
Our friend Michael Shorr who runs www.ArtOfTheSong.org just started this podcast. We love the name! Subscribe via iTunes.

    CD Baby DIY Music Podcast
We love CD baby. And Kevin, Chris, and Robert from CD Baby have created a great little podcast that features interviews with promoters, lawyers, publishers, bookers, and artists of all styles and backgrounds. They also share tips, tricks, and mistakes — all in the name of being indie! Check it out at cdbabypodcast.com or subscribe via iTunes.
