Turbocharge Your Facebook Musician Page
By Nick Daugherty | February 1, 2008
When it comes to configuring your Facebook Musician page, there are hundreds of third-party applications you can add. However, there are two monster apps I use that will supercharge your band’s page in no time, iLike this Artist (by iLike) and My Band (by ReverbNation).
ReverbNation was the first company to give artists a direct presence instantly, with complete artist profile pages and a music player that lets Facebook users play, share, and purchase tracks. You’ll need to create an Artist Profile at ReverbNation.com (it’s free), and your info will automatically be inserted it into all of their Facebook applications.
The main ReverbNation app you’ll want to use is called “My Band,” which now works on both personal Facebook profiles (here’s mine), and Facebook Musician pages (here’s mine).

You can also split up the app’s functionality into two separate pieces:
- Music - Lets you add up to 30 of your songs (full-length) to your Facebook Musician Page
- Shows - Adds a custom show schedule to your Facebook Page including ticket links and an interactive Yahoo Map
There’s lots more to talk about regarding ReverbNation (I think they’ve solved a huge piece of the puzzle), but let me focus on Facebook Musician pages today…
Next is iLike this Artist, which adds a lovely orange button to both your personal Facebook profile and your Facebook Musician page. It ties in with iLike’s Universal Artist Dashboard, which will automatically give you a presence on Facebook, iLike.com, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Ask.com, Ticketmaster.com, and soon Orkut, Hi5, Bebo, and more.
Every major artist on the radio today is on iLike and most are also on ReverbNation. So take the plunge implement both these apps into your Facebook page. Then post your link below in the comments section for all of us to see!
Friends, the game has changed. The rules are being rewritten so fast no one can really keep up. That’s why I want to teach you a new word that will soon become your new best friend: WIDGETS.
More on this tomorrow, as we discuss how all this extra new stuff is really supposed to save you time too!
